Firstly, thank you so much to all the parents, carers and family members who came to our Christmas performances of ‘Babushka’. The children have worked so hard and I am incredibly proud of how well they did. Your support is always appreciated so thank you.
Despite the busy rehearsals and performances, back in the classroom we have enjoyed cooking some vegetable curry to conclude our topic ‘Kolkata’. We tasted a variety of curries cooked by the teachers and rated the taste, looks, spice and texture. This helped us plan our very own as we thought about ingredients, equipment and method we’ll need to follow. When preparing our vegetables for the curry we focused on the skills peeling, grating and cutting. After making the curry we tasted and evaluated to reflect on what we liked and how it can be improved. What fun we had! Maybe you can make a vegetable curry at home to show off your new skills!
We have also been looking at human features in topic this week. We compared transport in Kolkata and England. We found Kolkata still have human rickshaw pullers and put ourselves in the shoes of one. We carried out some drama and thought about their feelings and hazards they may face. We then wrote a diary entry as a rickshaw puller of their busy, tiring days using the knowledge we gained.
I look forward to a another fun filled week next week to end the term. 🎄
